Krystyna Katsouri is a Melbourne-based artist working primarily in oil painting. Her practice explores the way the brain abstracts, distorts and warps visual information, and how the mind digests and makes sense of the spaces we move through.

Looking through a humor-informed lense, she examines the gaps between what is seen and what is remembered, her paintings treat perception as something elastic and unreliable. Familiar scenes are bent, simplified and reassembled, as though filtered through the mind’s own habits of approximation.
